I think the pirates are not going to destroy the business, because the online business model itself is obsolete. Porn will reinvent itself as it has always done. In a way, porn created Internet as we know it nowadays by developing and implementing the actual system of payments. The point is that the ones leading tomorrows change will be the winners, but there is plenty of room for the losers.

So the thing is clear, evolving is the key. As a piece of advise. try to think why people are reluctant to pay with credit cards... because they don't want to be identified as a porn consumers. This is a more important factor than the piracy. So maybe exploring BitCoins as a way of charging could be good idea. Other ideas would be making a survey about how much the people are willing to pay (price discovery) and discovering ways to add value for the membership, not just getting access to something that they will be able to get for free two days after the initial release. Finally, creating content that you don't plan to release because you are afraid of pirates is a no sense in business. It is losing money for sure, there is nothing more expensive than a fail proyect. Then you better get retired and spend you money you have earn with one of your models in the Caribbean drinking Margaritas.

Have you ever thought that the pirates could be between your members? No hacker or cracker could share the content as fast as it is posted unless they already have access to it. Imagine someone who wants to do the new Megaupload, the easiest way to create content to share is becoming member of several sites, download the content, post it and get money from Google Adwords as a result of the heavy traffic. In addition there are invisible sharing networks more dangerous for you than the pirates and the cyberlockers, such as RetroShare.

You may continue complaining about piracy, and being kick out of the biz, or start thinking a solution worthy for the consumers, i.e. that's marketing. Complaining is pointless that is a part of the Internet, as it is a communication media, and the freedom and neutrality of the net is supported by.... guess who?... Google!!!

in the end the models suffer most from piracy. they get less and less jobs each years. with decreasing turnovers porn productions must cut costs and this means mainly dumping prices and less jobs for models. it is simply business.

also the problem with piracy are not the few fanboys who share their favorites models in a forum. they are small fishes. big problems are well equiped companies who systematically harvest every scene they can get and share them download or torrent sites to increase traffic with that stolen content. traffic is pure money these days and it is business for them.

a huge problem are also search engines like google who support piracy by placing torrent sites in their search results.

a solution could be to show a preview of a scene and first publish it when a specific amount of sales is reached.
