IMO, this kind of website would have been great pre-2005 but is pointless today.
People want to see sexys photos of you but nobody wants to read the comments of other so-called fans who tell you how extraordinary you are... It might be good for your ego but it has the mirror effect of feeling like a looser. And that's why in the end, nobody posts comments and they loose interest in this kind of promotion.
In this context, facebook works much better because fans can have the blurry illusion of being friends and not only drooling fans.
