And about the sending of money, I think it would be (or have been) more effective by setting up an easier process like with http://www.youcaring.com: anonymous, easy, no fees. People are generous, but if you put hurdles in their feet they won't give. With Western Union, you have to send the MTCN after, sometimes you have to go to a post office, you give personnal information, they take a fee. Most people would have given up before the end.
