Then out of a sudden someone broke the back window. The colleague get out of the car to look what's happening. Then on the driver side another guy enters the car and drove away with the Mercedes and all their baggage (the key was in the ignition lock). They found the car 3 years later in South Italia, total corrupted, only identifiable through the engine block number. Don't go to Milano if you mustn't.

I'm afraid i have to agree with Camaban here. But the culprit is not Milan, but Alitalia (which last i heard was going out of business.. too bad they haven't!). I've had my baggage pilfered in exactly that manner, including an expensive overcoat i had just purchased..camaban wrote:Only when I hear Milano I remember a story of one of my fathers colleagues who was in Milano for business. Unfortunately, these sort of anecdotes tend to reinforce the stereotype of Italians as thieves and criminals, which like all stereotypes has a measure of truth in it. But it is absurd to imply a blanket condemnation of Italians and the Milanese people in particular. To some degree, this reflects a cultural bias of Northern Europeans (& "anglo" North Americans) toward Mediterranean peoples. My experience is that you have to watch your own back more carefully in some of these regions because there is a widespread mentality of "a fool and his money are soon parted", and this facilitates some "ethically deficient" types to force the issue dishonestly or criminally. That is, if you, as a stranger, present an easy target, you are considered fair game to be ripped off. Other Italians, for example, understand this and know how to cope. Of course, i'm not talking about aggressive, violent incidents like Camaban described... (Enough said, this is a tricky issue and i'm bound to stir controversy if i dont qualify everything i say.)

priapos wrote:Yes, we can vote for her in these silly polls..But what really might be helpful is that all of us collectors, producers, agents etc pool our resources and attempt to reconstitute her portfolio. Juliana can get a lot of it back without too much effort or expenditure, but there's probably some material she doesn't have easy access to, etc. Unfortunately, she must have lost a lot of personal stuff that may be irreplaceable
