I've been a somewhat passive member since 2007 and on the old board from 2005. I remember 2005-2007 being the top years in Europorn as a lot of really great girls entered the scene each year. In the later years me visits has been less frequent - I'm getting older and less horny and more boring... But something else has happend - the girls has come in less numbers each year and so far 2013 seems to be a disaster. I've made a chart of new girls per year since 1990 with data from http://www.eurobabeindex.com/sbandoindex/appendix_3.html.

Or are EBI admins getting older and less horny and more boring... and lazier, just as you are?

FWIW, while you state that 2005-2007 were "the top years in Europorn", that was also the period when I basically stopped watching porn. I dare suggest that this had nothing to do with the state of the business, but with my own situation. Perhaps the same goes for you now.

I'm sure there are other factors which (partially) explain the chart, besides the state of the business -- like personal interest of the EBI admins, the start of EBI itself, the start of the first forum, the start of the second forum, lack of information/pictures ... For instance, the chart shows there are hardly any girls in EBI pre 1998, compared to the period which followed. I'm pretty sure lots of "EBI worthy girls" from 1990-1998 are simply not included because of lack of interest, knowledge, information and decent pictures, or a combination thereof.

One of the reasons I hardly participate here anymore (or any other forum) is precisely the almost singular focus on the here and now.

This is a (kind of) democratic forum. It is up to the members to provide input. Crimsonking is a perfect example of someone who is constantly filling in the database on the girls' back catalogue. Why substract them?
This biz started at its peak as maxpax calls it to look for new porn frontiers in order to cut the growing booking costs. It took them some years, some trial and error to finally tap the Piter talent pool for good in 2007. The maxpax chart shows that Russian impact already the same year.
2013 looks that bad because the Russian talent pool dried aout due to Putins porn production ban. And due to the crisis the biz has no resources left for another trial and error story to conquer a new talent pool. At least this is what I guess, because there are still places in Europe with gross incomes allowing for good offers at a budget price for girls willing to fuck on set for cash.

Fantastic data! I would suggest also taking data from other sources like IAFD (although their data is mixed) just to corroborate your figures from EBI.

As for establishing causality - well, that's a little tricky. It could be lax admin but I find this hard to believe. There are also a number of girls that can be added from the "Add a babe" thread, which probably won't make a significant difference. Unless there are many more girls, since the decline you noted, that have only done one scene and thus didn't make it into the EBI listings.

Although, intuitively, given the year for the crash in new girls ties in with the Eurozone crash this is probably the main reason. Intuitively one might expect that there would be more girls because of higher rates of unemployment and impoverishment, however, if there's no capital to finance porn then there's no way to utilize the surplus supply

With the massive unemployment across europe, Some Porn produceer with the money could get a ton of girls to shoot for sure, Unfortunately because many pirate their porn it is hard to make money with porn, and when the economy goes down even those who are used to pay for it most likely stop if they need to save money.

There`s sure a crisis - economic, employment, spendings etc. but the harder life the more boys want distraction.
So if good quality porn would be accessible for a good price people would still buy it, I think. This involves however a biz model cutting down production costs while still presenting some higher priced pearls once in a while, i.e. move out more often from Budapest for productions or at least establishing a well working scheme of many low cost talents flocking into town for porn work. I am sure it can be done, but it needs adventurers like Omar Galanti and Giorgio Grandi who were the first to go scouting in Russia in 2007.

if you substract them you see the big picture in eastern europe. in czech republic for example, it got worse and worse, because of cost cuts but also because of development of new media. most girls are still open for sex acts but only without camera. we call them escorts instead of models.

in russia and ukraine it is the law now, on the other hand more russian models make it to europe yet.

eu visa for russian and ukranian girls is the HUGE problem. the process can take several months and if you imagine that they are usually just 4-8 weeks in biz you can do the math.
