Wonder if anyone can help with this problem. When I download the 1920x1080 h.264 mp4 version, it has checker/square/shimmering artifacts when I play it back in Windows Media Player, but not when I play the file back in Media Player Classic. This does not occur with the medium quality h.264, 720p wmv and 1080p wmv files, just the 1080p mp4. I prefer the 1080p mp4 file over the 1080p wmv file because the file size is considerably smaller with similar video quality, but unfortunately WMP doesn't like it. Note this isn't just for a particular video, it's for all the ones that have been recently released.

I particularly want this to work in WMP since that player has a nice slow-mo feature that doesn't change the audio pitch, something that MPC doesn't support.

Which OS and WMP version? On Win7 configure WMP to use ffdshow as decoder instead of the MS Media Foundation based decoder, it's easy to do with Win7DSFilterTweaker.

I don't belive that is an option for 21Sextury.

First off....with all of the related expenses that would be involved...it's probably
something that they wouldn't even consider doing. There's just too much involved
and it all adds up and costs way too much to make it all economically viable in any rational
kind of way. They aren't in business/production to lose money.

...and that's all if they were even "allowed" to even consider doing such a wild and crazy thing.

I think that the "powers that be" that deal with such matters in Hungary are different
from the "powers that be" that deal with such matters in Russia.

Basically agree.
Setting up a new studio in Russia is not that easy either. Also please think of all those limited locations we already have now with Piter shot product.
The only way out is a broader conveyer belt bringing us much more cute natural Piter talent for two-week-sessions to Budapest.
That would be "allowed" and pay for sure!

Sorry, it is with Win7-32 bit and WMP 12. I tried the Win7DSFilterTweaker and it plays back now without artifacts, although unfortunately the Playback Speed feature in WMP only appears to work with MS decoder; with WMP using ffdshow, that Playback Speed feature becomes greyed out

Just curious if anyone else also experienced this issue with blocking artifacts on the 1080p h.264 mp4 version of the videos with Win7/WMP12? Also if it matters, the video card is an ATI HD5770, running latest drivers. Thanks alpha68 for you suggestion trying to help...

I couldn't find a slow motion feature in WMP, you could try if PotPlayer has such a feature, should be the most feature rich player.

As far as I know the bitrate is lower for the 1080p mp4 files against the 1080p wmv files. That's why they are smaller and maybe the bitrate is sometimes too low, so you see the artifacts. That's why I prefer the 1080p wmv files.
