FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE :

DENNIS BLACK MAGIC RETIRES FROM THE ADULT INDUSTRY AFTER 12 YEARS

Black Magic Media Group Adult Press Release 2007 : Belgium ( Brussels ) : August 4th, 2007 :

10 times European X- Award Winning Director Dennis Black Magic, ( Belgium ) President from Black Magic Media Group Ltd,
decided to retire and to leave the adult industry after a 12 years of activity in the sector ( 1995 – 2007 ).
In the period from 1995 till 1999, Dennis Black Magic was active in the industry as a publisher and marketing consultant
and was in charge for the graphic lay out for 3 contact - adult magazines in the Benelux.
In 1999, he made the first Flemish Pirelli calendar with nobody less then Miss Belgium Tanja Dexters,
posing nude. 4.500 limited prints of this calendar were sold out in 9 days. This production even made the cover of Playboy Magazine.
In the year 2000 Dennis Black Magic established his own label and adult company Black Magic Media Group.
His first adult entertainment movie “Cover story in Belgium”, sold up to 3.800 pieces in a rush, at that time Dennis was 25 years young.
In the year 2002, he made the movie “Big House being” the first one with a real Big Brother candidate in an adult movie and this with a selling from 5.000 pieces in 3 weeks time.
Using his advertising and his graphic skills combined with his marketing experience the label Black Magic became one of the leading European adult labels, and the monopoly label in the Benelux.
In 2003 he made his first world wide hit movie : “54, The Legend “with a well known world cast and with a live act from the legendary band Lords of Acid.
In the same year mainstream publisher Van Halewijck and writer Bob Van Laerhoven published a biography about Dennis Black Magic ( called : “The Belgian Porn King” ).
at that time Dennis was 28 years old, it became a best seller.
At the age of 33, Dennis Black Magic is now saying goodbye to the adult industry and will stop with the Black Magic label starting from 01 September 2007.
The label and brand name logo “Black Magic”, and the URL-website will be sold.

President of Black Magic Media Group : Dennis Black Magic commented :
”After 12 years being active in the adult industry, it’s now the right time for me to leave the sector as a director and to stop my label as well.
I have seen some facts the last years in this industry and I can say that the ‘golden years’ of the porn world are totally over.
The overload of the cheap stuff on the internet that you can find and see for free, and the overload of new models together with the overkill of many new so called ‘labels’,
are in my point of view and marketing wise the main reason for my decision. I really enjoyed my time in the adult industry,
and I decided to go back to my first love, advertisement, marketing and graphic designs. I know this business and I have a long history in top advertisement
and in mainstream entertainment productions. I have no comments further at this moment, also no details about the new mainstream and advertising company that will be started soon.
I wish with all my heart all the good labels, directors, producers and performers all the best. Also I would like to thank many people for the positive feedback, my respect goes to you all ”

Note : the official website http://www.blackmagicmediagroup.com and mail address contacts will be closed on 1 September 2007.

Adult Press Quotes :
“Producing really good adult movies seems to be for many people some kind of a secret – even within the erotic industry.
Making them successful definitely is something, what many people are trying, but only few can handle. Dennis Black Magic,
the president of the Black Magic Media Group and “Flemish Porn King”, told the EURO e - LINE how it works.
The producer and director of movies like “54, the legend” or “Cover story in Belgium” explained,
what's really important and how he made his way to become one of the leading European producers.”
( Euro e-line Magazine )

“Titles are usually inherited. But Dennis Black Magic has been announced ‘Porn King’
by the Belgian people and the press. His achievements to make porn more accepted in our society are immense.
His work as photographer and director has been reported on TV and in the meantime, even a biography has been published. ”

Hi Sbando,

Indeed it's a surprise, but the news is still fresh from today.
So I guess that there will be differences of opinion.

I guess this is releasted to the Czech syphillis outbreak.
It seems to have been the last drop.
But maybe one must also read Denis retirement as the first sign of the downfall of Prague as a porn destination. I hope not!

Hi dap-addict,

The retirment has got to do with the lines that are standing in Dennis his quote above. But your comment has indeed also a good point there, however what Dennis is saying about the smaller labels, who are giving an overkill and the adult world actually not respecting as much as it was in the past.

The main case of the retirment of Dennis is that he has lost his believe and passion in the adult because it's not as it was before in the good years based on big names and quality with a concept.

I´d call gonzo a concept, too.
But I know what you mean. And while myself I didnt buy high quality feature films in years, as they usually are too soft for my taste, I am aware of the big contribution Denis/Black Magic did for Europorn in general.
Thus, me, I dint support his business with my money, but I still feel his retirement as a big big loss.

I wish Denis all the best for his future projects & some long lasting friendships from his adult biz years! :)

Hm, Im glad Im not the one who thinks exactly the same!
Today is no early 2000s, when Czech was heaven in porn and everyone I have met from the business was great kind of people. Not like today. Sorry to say.
Whatever started the downfall, now its clear the the downfall is right here right now. I wish it would be the opposite.

Although I will be curious what next will bring us next year. Maybe the good ol times will return, Im optimist.

What characterized that good old Prague time 6 to 7 years ago, Mr. Peter?
And how is it now in contrast?
Just wondering...

Thats simple. Although in early 00s Prague by no means already wasnt in pioneer ages of porn like in early 90s, it rather was already huge porn pool, for me it was the golden age. And probably Im not only one who has the same opinion.

Maybe it wasnt highly professional managed like today, but people were closer to each other. Porn pool in Prague, Budapest was like one big family.
Today in opposite, too much people are involved in the business, too much hassle, too much people are pointing fingers to others, etc...Everybody wants big money and they are not enough.

Back in those days, everybody was happy to shoot in Prague and the girls were happy to shoot with major companies that arrived here. The trick was that even companies were different, the people was the same, u know the same familiar faces, even more many of them were friends and I hope still are in real life.
Many, today well known, companies went not only once per year for shooting, but two-, three- or more-times.
You know, in that time, people from the business well known each other, they were nicer. Another reason is that back was everything much cheaper than today. Location rentals are higher, make-up artists are more expensive,..etc. Imagine porn crew which is shooting for example for five days, it has to move from apartment to the location and back at least 10 times. That can cost a lot.
Only big companies like Private can afford without problem big budget feature scenery for their movies. Yes, its beautiful, but need to say, most gonzo companies tends to keep their budget as low as possible. Its logic, with dvd prices dropping down each day, it may be even critical. And lowering girls salary is not the best way because they deserve it. They virtually drive the business.

Back it was 50% for money and 50% for fun. Today 90% money, 10% the rest. Simple.
